Transportation at Ontario Tech

The university promotes sustainable commuting through bus passes for students, electric fleet vehicles, charging stations for electric vehicles and carpooling options.

Find directions to campus via alternative modes of transit.

Designated carpool spots are available at the north Oshawa campus location.

To register for the carpool program, visit the Parking Services office at the main entrance of the Gordon Willey Building or call 905.721.8668 ext. 2145. As of 2020, there are 10 carpool spots at Founders 2 and 10 carpool spots at Commencement Lot.

You can also try the Smart Commute Tool to track your transportation modes and calculate your avoided greenhouse gas emissions.

Full-time Ontario Tech students receive a U-Pass, providing unlimited access to Durham Region Transit (DRT).

In addition, there is a Go Transit bus service connecting to cities such as Brampton, Scarborough, North York and Markham. The seamless connection between Go Transit and DRT allows students to transfer between the two systems at no extra cost.

Bicycle parking is conveniently located all across campus.

The university has five full-electric fleet vehicles.

Electric vehicle charging stations

Our campus features six electric vehicle charging stations with a total of 11 ports, located in various areas including:

  • Charles Hall
  • Office of Infrastructure and Sustainability (285 Britannia Avenue West).
  • Software Informatics Research Centre.

Additionally, there are four electric vehicle charging stations in the Commencement Lot. These designated parking spaces support our electric vehicles on campus and promote community usage of electric vehicles.
