Other waste-reduction initiatives
The Office of Campus Infrastructure and Sustainability (OCIS) introduced a Waste Wise campaign to educate faculty, staff and students about waste streaming and responsible consumption. Posters can be found across both the north and downtown Oshawa campus locations.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, the university has installed 33 hydration stations and distributed reusable water bottles. This initiative has diverted 150,000 bottles from landfills within less than a year. Moving forward, first-year students will also receive a reusable water bottle.
In 2014, the university transitioned its paper supply to include only recycled content and wheat-derived products. OCIS continues to promote wise printing practices to further reduce paper use.
